“The Cool Kid” by Kathy Sparks

Two young boys visit their orthopedic doctor’s office for a checkup on their disabilities. They become fast friends while playing together in the waiting area. By coincidence, they have the same doctor. The boys spend their time playing with a big green ball while waiting for their turn to see the doctor. Their mothers noticed how well the boys got along with each other and the mothers also became friends. One boy has an upcoming birthday party to which the other boy is invited. Their disabilities do not get in the way of developing a friendship. One boy considers the other boy a cool kid, but in reality they both are cool kids.
